Madhav Nepal defines PM KP Oli as an authoritarian; says dissolution of Parliament against people sentiments
Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Dahal-Nepal group, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said that the dissolution of the House of Representatives is against the constitution, the people, and sentiments of the political parties, the revolution made by the Nepali people, the aspirations for change, and the commitment of the CPN. Addressing a public meeting organized by the CPN (Maoist) at Bhrikuti Mandap today against the dissolution of the House of Representatives, Kp Oli led government has adopted an authoritarian style which will soon be over, said Madhav Nepal who uttered Oli as authoritarian.
Due to repeated dissolution of the House of Representatives by the government, the country could not enter into stability before this constitution; which Madhav Nepal recalls well of erasing such provision in the new constitution during an agreement with all the present political leaders including KP Oli. He said that the House of Representatives can be dissolved only if the Prime Minister cannot be elected in the parliament. Chairman Nepal expressed confidence that the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives had reached the Supreme Court and a decision would be taken in accordance with the spirit and letter of the constitution. “I am confident that the body entrusted with the task of interpreting the constitution will interpret the constitution according to its essence, provisions and people’s opinion,” he said.
He said that they would cooperate with KP Oli only if Oli regretted the move to dissolve the House of Representatives. He also urged all leftist, democratic, transformational and civil society leaders to unite to protect the achievements of the people’s struggle.
