Kathmandu. Duo Chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) , PM KP Sharma Oli and former PM Pushpakamal Dahal Prachand have claimed that their section of party is authentic NCP.
Prachand led section has replaced Oli from the post of party co-chair and unanimously nominated senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal as the new party co-chair.
Another hand, Oli declared the name list of the leaders of his faction meeting helad at Baluwatar and claimed his was the authentic NCP.
Oli said in the meeting that how could a Central Committee meeting be legal when the first chair and general secretary of the party had not given their consent.
The NCP had 173 members in the dissolved 275-member House of Representatives.
The NCP was formed by the merger of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre on 17 May 2018, creating the largest communist force in the country.
According to NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha out of 445 Central Committee members, 315 were present in the faction meeting.
Dahal/Nepal led faction condemned the dissolution of the House , terming it an unconstitutional, undemocratic, autocratic, regressive, and arbitrary act. It also demanded immediate summoning of the new session of the Parliament.
Nepal, the newly appointed the co chair of party, said nobody should dream of reviving old parties.
The next CC meeting will be held on Thursday.
At the same time, the Oli-led faction formed a general convention organising committee comprising 1,199 members and proposed to hold the party’s general convention.
Two senior leaders of the NCP and Secretariat members, Bamdev Gautam and Ram Bahadur Thapa, have taken neither side.
